AERO FLEET PERSONNEL MARINE VOICE DATA

Swift Broadband is an IP-based packet-switched service that provides a symmetric‘ always-on’ data connection of up to 432kbps per channel. In Standard IP mode, the service is shared with other concurrent users of the system, providing a ‘best effort’ service.

Swift Broadband provides a high-quality voice channel with the full functionality of land-based fixed phone services and a generic SMS service. For backward compatibility, it also provides a circuit-switched ISDN service. Swift Broadband is designed to meet the demand for more bandwidth across all areas of aviation.

It supports both IP and circuit-switched applications, with a choice between contended services and data streaming on demand.
Swift Broadband enables all key cockpit and cabin applications, including: telephony, text messaging, email, internet and intranet access, as well as flight plan, weather and chart updates.

In today's "always connected" world, the expectation to communicate just as well in the air as you can on the ground is growing. Swift Broadband is designed to meet the demand for more bandwidth across all areas of aviation - as well as delivering the same high-quality voice communications that are customary from Inmarsat.

Enhanced Data Services

  • SwiftBroadband allows more simultaneous users and more demanding applications. Rates can be increased further by using parallel channels and data compression.
  • It supports both IP and circuit-switched applications, with a choice between contended services and data streaming on demand.
  • SwiftBroadband enables all key cockpit and cabin applications, including: telephony, text messaging, email, internet and intranet access, as well as flight plan, weather and chart updates.
